What’s in a name? That’s the easy part, “Sibling Rivalry” was originally created in May 2013 as a brother & sister team to compete in a local CSBBQA amateur competition to see who smokes a meaner carcass; Big Sister’s chicken or Little Brother’s ribs… Somehow how that one-off competition turned into 7!
2014 saw us take on more and bigger challenges. We had some work to do to improve on our 2013 results which we did, missing out on the overall 2014 championship by 0.8%. We successfully defended our title at Friendly Fires and saw us take on the big dogs in our first pro BBQ competition where we got a first place call for our Ribs!
2015 was all Pro. We competed in 3 KCBS competitions and managed to end the year with 2 overall top 10 finishes at the Drayton Kinsmen Smoke and Sound Festival and the inaugural Fatboy’s Canadian Classic in our home town of Ottawa. Our first ever KCBS was in the states at Lake Placid I Love BBQ Competition, lets just call that one… a learning experience, it was however one of the best run events we’ve ever attended and we’ll be back.
In a very short period of time, we’ve discovered just how engaging this merry band of lunatics with a shared passion for BBQ can be, referring of course to Canada’s competitive BBQ community (Pros and Amateurs). With that in mind I would encourage anybody to take part in one or more of their local competitions.
